Thank you for all your support an contribution to our past programs! Based of the success of our past events, like the Kutcheri with Koffee concert series and the Sangeet Symphony, Suvithra Music would like like to present a new, fun event with a competition atmosphere. The Suvithra Music "Day of Music and Dance" is a way to showcase the local talent of our community through a group rendering of Saint Thyagaraja's Pancharathna Kritis, as well as individual singing competition events. The goal of the Day of Music and Dance is to celebrate impactful singers, composers, and dancers who have changed South Indian classical arts for the better.
We would like to present our first "Day of Music and Dance" with a focus on Sri. Tyagaraja Swami, one of the trinity of Carnatic music, and perhaps the most famous vaggeyakara of them all. According to Hindu calendar, January 28th is Pushya Bagula Pachami, the day of the Thyagaraja Aradhana. To celebrate this event and Thyagaraja himself, we will conduct a group rendition of Pancharathna Kritis and individual singing events. If you are interested in participating the singing events, please let us know.
Group singing of the Pancharathna will be held at 10:00 AM. Both vocalists and instrumentalists are welcome to join. We strongly recommend registering prior to the event as this will help us with organization and setup.
For Anyone under 18, free training in the Pancharatna krithis will be given by us, to maintain some uniformity.
We would like to include evaluation of these performances based on some score. The scoring is based on a combination of the scores from a panel of judges, as well as audience feedback. There is also non-competition style participation. If you choose to participate without judging, you will not be considered for any prizes.
The songs you choose to render or dance, are restricted to only compositions of Sri Thyagaraja.
