Priyamvadaa Sastri
Priyamvadaa Sastri was initiated into music at a very young age of 4. She learnt vocal basic lessons from "Kalaimamani" Dr.Rukmini Ramani (Daughter of the legendary composer Papanasam Sivan) for over 3 years and later pursued violin as her main forte. She has been under the esteemed tutelage of "Padmasri" A. Kanyakumari from 2008 till date.Priyamvadaa's interest in violin was identified by her parents when she started playing the instrument on her own. Her formal training in violin began in 2003 and she learnt from the famous duo "Akkarai Sisters" and their father Akkarai Sri. S. Swaminathan.
Apart from music, Priyamvadaa holds a Bachelor's in Sociology from Stella Maris College, Chennai and Master's in Counseling and therapeutic Psychology from Madras School of Social Work.
She is a B grade artiste of All India Radio Chennai and has performed in many sabhas all over India and abroad. Some of her accomplishments include perfroming at The Music Academy, Madras; Sri Krishna Gana Sabha; Vani Mahal; Brahma Gana Sabha; Kartik Fine Arts; Sri Chowdiah Hall, Bangalore; Ravindra Bharti, Hyderabad; Sri Shanmukhananda Hall, Mumbai; TTD Nadaneeranjanam and also various TV channels including Vijay TV, Jaya TV, Raj TV, DD Podhigai and many more. She also performed in Abu Dhabi and Singapore last year. She accompanies Vocal concerts, instrumental, dance recitals, harikathas and has performed duet, trio and ensemble concerts with her Guru.Priyamvadaa has won several accolades in many inter-collegiate events including "Best Classical Artiste Award" from Stella Maris College, "Best Instrumentalist Award" from Madras School of Social Work, to name a few. She was a part of the famous Mylapore Anthem created in 2009, and has ventured in composing music for Tamil short films and also lent her voice for two Tamil feature films.
