About the artists
Shashidhar Lakshminarayana (Veena)
Shashi was introduced to Veena playing at a tender age of eight by his mother Smt.Rathna Narayan who is also a Veena player. Shashi’s tutelage continued under Vidwan R.K. Suryanarayan & his brother R. K. Prakash for over a decade. He is currently pursuing his advance lessons from Vidushi Revathi Murthy a well-renowned ‘A' grade AIR Carnatic Veena artist.
Shashi is not only a renowned musician in India, his name and popularity spreads all around the world including USA & Canada. Apart from his blistering speed Shashi’s performance is distinguished by his style of playing closer to the vocal music and importance to the Raaga Bhava.
Besides Veena playing, Shashi is a Sr.Director for a leading global technology company that provides software and cloud solutions in the areas of product development. He holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. His passion for Veena has made him to move back to India from USA where he stayed for more than a decade.
Shashi's creativity is in manodharma sangeetha which includes Raaga Aalapane, Taana and Swara Prastara. His versatility extends to fusion music and was a part of “Michigan Beats” a fusion group in Detroit. Currently residing in Greensboro-North
Carolina he has performed in various prestigious music organisations here locally.
He has performed at Nadaneerajanam Tirupati, Girinagar Sangeetha Sabha, Purandara Mantapa Memorial Trust, Indian Institute of World Culture, Malleswaram Sapthaswara Academy of Music and accompanied various Bharatanatyam & Kuchipudi Arangetrams in India & USA.
Tejaswi Shashidhar (Mridangam)
Tejaswi Shashidhar is a 6th grader in Northwest Guilford Middle School, Greensboro. He is learning Mridangam under the tutelage of Laya Kala Pratibhamani Vidwan K.V.Ravishankar Sharma of Bangalore for the past 5 years. Vidwan K.V. Ravishankar Sharma is an ‘A' grade AIR artist and has won many awards and titles.
Tejaswi has performed in various prestigious sabha’s to name a few SIFAA (South Indian Fine Arts Academy), Nada Vipanchi, Raga Revival, Swaralaya Music, Saptami Foundation and accompanied in various Tala Vaadya concerts. He has won many prizes in India & USA.
